South Africa is Calling. "Will You Say, 'Yes?'"

Hannah Siegel, an intern with theHeart, is serving with our ministry partner in South Africa this summer. The experience has changed her life. And she encourages you to consider God's invitation to partner with Him as He transforms lives through Emoyeni.

When I first heard about Emoyeni through theHeart, I knew God was calling me to follow Him to South Africa. I had no idea why. I previously did not really have a great interest in foreign missions. Dropping everything to go to South Africa as a college student was NOT on my radar.

God has a good sense of humor, though, because as I'm typing this, I'm sitting in eManzana, South Africa, after already being here for more than three weeks. It is truly the Holy Spirit's doing, and let me tell you, there is no place I would rather be.

The Lord called and I said "yes." And now I am experiencing things I never thought I would experience in a place I never thought I would be.

Hannah stands in front of the pre-school that was constructed in part with financial support from theHeart. This also serves as a care point where children from the community come to receive a hot meal every day.

I am serving as an intern with Emoyeni through August, and it brings me great joy that theHeart is bringing a team in November to be a part of what God is doing here.

So what exactly is God doing here?

There aren't enough hours in a day for me to tell you about all the things God is doing in this place. This is a broken community. The aftermath of Apartheid and the HIV/AIDS epidemic has left many families without proper shelter, food, father figures, and hope.

Emoyeni is working alongside community leaders to intentionally raise up deliverers of the hope found in Christ so that this community can be transformed in the name of Jesus.

If you are feeling The Holy Spirit tug at your heart to cross the ocean and join Him here, if you want to leap out of your comfort zone and encounter God in a radical way and experience His love like never before, I invite you to say "yes."

"The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." – 1 Samuel 3:10

Will you say, "Yes?"

Say "yes" to this adventure because it will change your life.

God will break your heart at the sight of the brokenness, but He will mend it back together when you see the beauty He is weaving into the community.

You will know that God is working here.

And He is inviting you to be a part of it.

Will you say "yes?"

theHeart On Mission

For years, theHeart has supported the ministry work of Emoyeni in South Africa. Founded in 2002, Emoyeni serves to help the orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis in Mpumalanga. As they establish relationships of trust, Emoyeni seeks to restore the God-given identity of these children to their place as God's sons and daughters. theHeart is assembling a mission team that will travel to South Africa November 14-25 to assist Emoyeni in its efforts.
